The Q2 is Audi’s attempt at a small SUV crossover, in essence it is a sporty hatchback infused with a small SUV. So you basically get the best of both worlds, hatchback like characteristics with the ride-height and practicality of an SUV.
The Q2 slots in just below the Q3 and rivals the Mini Countryman, BMW X2, Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008, Opel Crossland X, Honda HR-V, Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade to name a few.
Once you are on the move you will notice that the Q2 has the same driving characteristics as the Audi A3, body roll is minimal and the drive in general is very comfortable.
The interior is stylish and as with all Audi’s you get that quality, solid and comfortable feel. Unfortunately the Q2’s rear seating might feel a bit cramped for adults as it has limited leg- and headroom. The boot capacity however is not bad, you get a useful 405 litres.
Getting into your desired driving position is easy, thanks to all the adjustments that can be made to the steering column and seating.
At the moment the Q2 is only available with 2 petrol engines and 1 diesel. Audi’s 85kW/200nm 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TFSI engine is quite responsive and does not feel underpowered at all. The little motor is also fuel efficient, Audi claims a low fuel consumption of 5.1l/100km. The second motor in the lineup is the tried and tested 1.4TFSI which is used in many of Audi/VW’s products, the 1.4 is good for 110kW/250Nm and fuel consumption is claimed at 5.2l/100km. There is only 1 diesel power plant available, the 2.0TDI producing 103kW/340Nm and a claimed fuel consumption of 5.0l/100km.
As with all Audi’s the option list stretches to the moon and back and you can also choose to add the S-Line Sport package.
The S-Line Sport pack includes:
-Decorative inserts in Matte Brushed Aluminum
-Headliner in Black fabric
-Sports seats in front
The Model Lineup:
1.0TFSI sport auto
1.0TFSI sport S line sports auto
1.4TFSI sport auto
1.4TFSI sport S line sports auto
2.0 TDI Sport S-tronic
The Audi Q2 is a desirable and fine-driving small SUV with a stunning quality finished interior. Although it is a bit cramped in the back it is still a great all-round package.
