Mercedes-Benz E63s AMG – Bruteforce with a touch of class

 

The Mercedes E63 AMG is one of the most powerful sedans in the world. It literally has more power than the Incredible Hulk and Superman combined !

Power outputs of the previous generation E63 was a wopping 410kW & 720Nm for the AMG and 430kW & 800Nm for the AMG S

The E63 sits at the very top of the Mercedes E-Class range, and competition comes from the BMW M5, Jaguar XFR and Audi RS5

The AMG saloon makes an incredible noise when you accelerate and even though it weighs nearly two tonnes, performance is stunning. Featuring a seven-speed automatic gearbox with four driving modes (Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Manual), the E63 is remarkably versatile and very easy to drive on an everyday basis.

A luxurious cabin masks the schizophrenic nature of the E63 AMG super-sedan.

Don’t ask what the fuel consumption is, expect a real world figure of around 15 litres per 100km, that is when driving conservatively !

It is extremely quick 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds for the AMG S and 4.2 for the standard AMG

Steering is sharp and precise and grips well in the corners.

Secondhand you can now pick up a well looked after E63s for around R700k – R1m

Buying second hand high performance machines is always a gabble so make sure you have some money to burn if you diside to purchase any second hand high performance beast.

The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG is a real monster, yet sophisticated and classy, whilst capable of Lambo & Ferrari-like performance. It is comfortable enough to drive daily. It’s fitted with one of the most impressive engines currently on sale, so you do get a lot of very fast car for your money. It can also carry up to five people in superb comfort. It’s very well kitted-out as standard, but buyers can also add optional equipment such as a panoramic sunroof, carbon-fibre trim and a reversing camera.

Word of advice: If you have not been for a high performance driving course don’t even attempt to drive the E63, it is a brute that will definitely get you into trouble.
